Working at heights is one of the most common and potentially dangerous aspects of construction work. In Ontario, it’s also one of the most closely regulated. To help keep workers safe, Ontario Regulation 213/91: Construction Projects requires that anyone working at height complete an approved Working at Heights Training Program.
If this is you, you will need to take a CPO-approved Working at Heights Training Program designed to meet these mandatory requirements. Our Working at Heights course ensures workers gain the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe on the job.
Through a combination of classroom learning and hands-on experience, participants learn how to recognize common fall hazards, use fall protection systems correctly, and properly set up and operate fall safety equipment.
By completing this program, you’ll not only stay compliant with Ontario’s safety regulations and you’ll also help create a safer, more prepared work environment for your entire team.
Who Needs Working at Heights Training in Ontario?
In Ontario, anyone who works on a construction project and is required to use fall protection must complete a CPO-approved Working at Heights (WAH) training program before starting work.
This includes workers who use equipment such as travel restraint systems, fall restricting systems, fall arrest systems, safety nets, or work belts and safety belts, as outlined in Ontario Regulation 213/91: Construction Projects.
The training requirement applies to a wide range of roles, including general labourers and tradespeople, as well as supervisors and subcontractors, as long as their job involves the potential risk of a fall.
Even if you’ve been working in construction for years, you must take an approved WAH course to remain compliant and renew it every three years to keep your certification valid.
